Cascade Effect for Solo Marimba

Arranger/Composer: Amanda Sycamore

Item Code: 32020

Publisher: C. Alan Publications

The concept of the cascade effect refers to the impact one event has on multiple related events. In this piece, the cascade effect refers to both the movement of thematic material as the mallets cascade across the marimba, as well the continuous flow of the piece, reminiscent of the flow of water cascading over rapids or falls. Originally written for solo marimba with percussion trio, Cascade Effect for Solo Marimba takes the melodic lines and grooves from the original trio parts and integrates them into the solo with flair.

Originally written for solo marimba with percussion trio, Cascade Effect for Solo Marimba takes the melodic lines and grooves from the original trio parts and integrates them into the solo with flair. A short cadenza-like section provides and opportunity to create expressive lines based on a chord structure outlined in the music. If the soloist is not comfortable creating one, then they are encouraged to play the rolled chords with dynamic contrast and rubato movements in mind.
