Program Notes
Fuze-Summit is a piece that combines elements of a concert percussion ensemble with a rhythm section. Members of this ensemble will alternate between comping patterns along with changing melodies. The piece is divided into two sections: the first centering around the progression ii-V-i in D minor, then transitioning to the same ii-V-i progression in C minor. The piece was named by combining the Fusion style with the name of the premiering group, the Lee’s Summit High School Percussion Ensemble. A special thanks to Mike McBain, Percussion Director at Lee’s Summit High School, along with his group who made this piece possible.
The EDGE Series is a collection of percussion ensembles featuring many popular musical styles - from funk to calypso to techno. It was developed to excite a wider range of ensembles, directors, and audiences while retaining the level of integrity you have grown to expect from C. Alan Publications.
