Gulpy the Goldfish is designed for training beginner string ensembles to develop rhythmic cohesiveness. In the key of D major, the piece remains in first position throughout. It also employs simple harmony and bass lines. Such simplicity allows students to focus on the ensemble aspects of their performance unencumbered by technical difficulties.
