Motives & Other Distractions

Motives & Other Distractions is a challenging yet playful composition. The opening syncopated motive is used throughout to drive the piece dramatically to several climatic points. There is liberal use of close arco and pizzicato switching in all parts as well as many extended divisi sections. Accents should be played aggressively even in quieter sections and tempo should be constant to the end.
