Pentaphonics is a work written for five graduated sounds. This composition can be performed on any five graduated items or instruments such as woodblocks, claves, cowbells, pots & pans, bottles, or anything really, so long as there are five distinct pitches. This is an exciting, rhythmic work that is fun for both players and audience.
Program Notes
Pentaphonics was written during the summer of 2019 to explore writing for percussion using smaller more portable instruments. The five instruments used within this composition should each consist of a distinctive sound which helps for them to easily be heard by the audience. When listening to this work, you will hear various rhythms and timbres being produced over the course of the piece.
