Reflection in Light is written as a ballad spotlighting the lead trombone. Stylistically the chart echoes influences of Stan Kenton and Mel Lewis, creating an old school feature for the lead trombonist, while also allowing the other sections of the band to shine through the use of multiple soli passages that really explore the full colour of the ensemble.
