Star of the Sea

Even though the inspiration was a Gregorian chant, this piece is all modern vibraphone. Lush melodic lines and captivating harmonies abound.

Program Notes

Star of the Sea was premiered on March 10, 2009. Parts of the introduction and coda, as well as the underlying melody starting at measure 70 are based on Gregorian chant. Star of the Sea requires four-mallet playing and advanced dampening technique on the vibraphone.
