Trance

Trance is a marimba solo filled with rhythmic drive and groove that explores the full dynamic range of the instrument while still maintaining a sense of lightness and subtlety.

Program Notes

Trance, composed in 2015, is one of my first compositions. There is certain subtleness to the harmony as well as the voice leading throughout some of the passages. Because of this, it is important to keep in mind that although the piece expresses the full dynamic range of the instrument, it should be performed with a lightness and quickness in mind.
