Chorale & Variations

The opening theme is presented as a lush four-part chorale with a beautiful climax toward the end. The following variations don’t stray harmonically very far from the theme, rather they require more from the performer, both rhythmically and technically. Every basic technique needed for 4-mallet marimba performance is explored throughout the piece with many challenges along the way.
