Fever Flash

After a brief slow introduction, Fever Flash takes off, driven by punchy brass, syncopated percussion and long lines in the woodwinds. As the piece builds toward its conclusion, more & more bluesy riffs seem to take over this upbeat romp.

Commissioned by the Richfield Middle School Concert Band Richfield, Minnesota, Ben Hoehn, Director

While working through different ideas for this piece, I became very sick and was stuck at home for about three days. Although the process was rather hazy, I actually wrote the entire first draft for this piece during that time! Fever Flash is an attempt to capture some of the feelings associated with being utterly and deliriously sick!
