Pliplets

Arranger/Composer: Josh Gottry

Item Code: 22970

Publisher: C. Alan Publications

Pliplets is a word that originated as an accidental amalgamation of two words in my effort to say "playing triplets" in a rehearsal. As such, in this composition there are triplet figures sprinkled around multiple parts and, with the exception of a slower phrase in 4/4, the work is set in a triple meter. Part of the Ignite Series, the piece has a lot of built-in flexibility with instrumentation.

Program Notes

Pliplets is a word that originated as an accidental amalgamation of two words in my effort to say "playing triplets" in a rehearsal. As such, in this composition there are triplet figures sprinkled around multiple parts and, with the exception of a slower phrase in 4/4, the work is set in a triple meter. Pliplets was composed for the Chandler Preparatory Academy percussion ensemble and premiered at the AZPAS 2016 Spring Days of Percussion. The piece can be played with as few as seven or as many as twelve or more percussionists.
