Waltz for Sanne

for Solo Marimba

Written for the composer's wife, Waltz for Sanne is a very accessible solo which gives the player a chance to show off their four-mallet technique. This is a great piece for a recital, especially as an encore!

Program Notes

I made Waltz for Sanne for my lovely wife Sanne. She had a TV show in Belgium called ‘Sanne Reads’ in which she read stories by her favorite authors. This composition was the opening tune of the program. I imagine the main theme to be something out of a music box. After the introduction, the theme develops and takes on different variations. The music is very accessible, and it gives the player a chance to show off their four-mallet technique. This is a great piece for a recital especially as an encore! - K.W.
